Museum George Vallet Piano Di Sorrento

Villa de Sandro Fondi houses the Archaeological Museum dedicated to Vallet. The beautiful nineteenth-century building, in neoclassical style, has been fully restored after a complex and discussed restructuring plan that sees beyond the recovery of the existing one, the creation of a conference room basement of 200 seats, a range of technical areas and rooms to be used to offices and exhibitions curated by the city of Sorrento.
It renovated even the ground floor of the Villa who reported to their splendor of the frescoes of the ‘700 ceilings. On the first floor houses the Regional Archaeological Museum, run by the Superintendency, with archaeological finds unearthed recently in coastal and previously hosted at Villa Fiorentino in Sorrento.
The museum is surrounded by a beautiful park open to the public and overlooking the valley tuff overlooking the Marina di Cassano and the Gulf of Naples, reconstructs, through the recovery of finds from the excavations carried out in the Sorrento Peninsula, the population phases and transformation of the coast from prehistoric to Roman times. On the ground floor are finds related to a settlement of the Gaudo Age (second millennium BC) and on the first floor there are examples of archaic sculpture and architecture, among these we highlight a beautiful marble head and Doric capitals tuff. The route continues with a display of tombs, glass ointment jars and pottery and red-figure vases dating from the fourth century BC
