Tuscany and the Wine

The Toscany is known for its famous red wines : Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino and Vino Nobile Montepulciano have made Tuscany  one of the symbol of regions’ wine Italian. In Tuscany , however, also produce  red wines from “international” grapes , such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Pinot noir The area of Bolgheri and SupertuscansI am an example of products designed desk counting on an occupational and environmental heritage of the first order. Some white wine Toscani , such as Vernaccia di San Gimignano , are to be counted among the excellence of the region. The Vin Santo is then one of the most interesting products in Italy from the point of view of organoleptic and from that of technical vinification and maturation.

WHITE TUSCAN WINES

Although Tuscany is predominantly a land of important reds, there are excellent Tuscan white wines such as, for example, Vernaccia di San Gimignano, a wine that takes its name from the grapes from which it is vinified and from the main “municipality of representation” in the province of Siena. Very interesting is the production of Vermentino, spread in the hills of the coast and under the Apuan Alps, Massa Carrara area, with the DOC Candia Dei Colli Apuani. Furthermore, it has recently begun to produce whites of depth and complexity with international vines such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon and Pinot Bianco and Grigio, which have found the ideal climate for their cultivation in the coolest areas of the hills of the region.

From Moscato grapes the famous dessert wine Moscadello di Montalcino and a variety of wines that fall under the denomination Sant’Antimo DOC and an important mention goes to Vin Santo, an excellent dessert wine made from partially dried Malvasia and Trebbiano grapes and aged in small oak barrels.
